Las Vegas Aces forward A'ja Wilson has been named the Kia WNBA Most Valuable Player, the WNBA announced today.

This is the second time in three seasons that Wilson has won the award, taking the title in 2020 as Wilson led the Aces to the WNBA Final where they fell to the Seattle Storm, who they just beat in four games to advance to the Finals once again.

Wilson is just the seventh player in WNBA history to win the award multiple times, Lauren Jackson, Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes, Cynthia Cooper, Elena Delle Donne and Candace Parker to earn the award at least twice.

Named the Kia WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, Wilson is only the fifth player to win the MVP and DPOY awards in the same season, joining Jackson, Yolanda Griffith, Swoopes and Leslie. She is the first player in 15 seasons to do so as well.

Averaging 19.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, Wilson led the Aces to their franchise-best record of 26-10 and a first overall seed in the WNBA playoffs. In their series clinching win over Seattle, Wilson played 40 minutes, tallying a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
