New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes met with team doctors for a re-evaluation on his injured arm and it was revealed that his dislocated left shoulder is "stable," according to a team press release. Hughes will continue to rehabilitate the injury and be re-evaluated in five weeks.
Earlier in October, the Devils placed Hughes on injured reserve due to the dislocated shoulder. At the time, the team announced that he would be out indefinitely as a result of the injury. However, an MRI confirmed that there wasn't any additional damage to Hughes' shoulder and he wouldn't need surgery.
The 20-year old originally suffered the injury during the first period of the Devils' Oct. 19 game against the Seattle Kraken. Hughes was shoved into the boards by Kraken defenseman Jeremy Lauzon in the 4-2 Devils win.
Hughes has two goals and an assist in his third season as a member of the Devils. The biggest highlight of his season came in the season opener against the Chicago Blackhawks when he scored the game-winning goal in overtime.
Hughes was originally selected with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft and has registered 55 points (20 goals and 35 assists) in his three seasons with the team. The Devils currently have a 3-2-0 record through the first two weeks of the 2021-22 NHL season.
