Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho will miss England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Poland because of a "minor knock".
He will now return to his club, leaving Gareth Southgate with a 23-man squad.
A statement from England said Sancho was "expected to recover in time" to play for Manchester United against Newcastle on Saturday, 11 September.
Sancho has featured in three all of the Red Devils' Premier League matches since joining them for £73m from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
He made his first start in their 1-0 win at Wolves before the international break.
The former Manchester City youth player has scored three goals in 22 appearances for England.
In his last appearance for the Three Lions, he had a penalty saved in their shootout defeat by Italy in the European Championship final.
England host Andorra on Sunday (17:00 BST) before travelling to Poland on Wednesday (19:45 BST).
