Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier fractured a foot in Sunday's Premier League win over Aston Villa.
Trippier, a £12m January signing, scored a free-kick in the 1-0 victory at St James' Park.
The 31-year-old, who was a doubt for the game, went to hospital for an X-ray.
A Newcastle statementexternal-link on Monday said scans showed a fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone in the England player's left foot.
