The New York Mets came away with a 9-4 win over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. However, that wasn't exactly what caught the eye of baseball fans when it came to this National League East battle.
Instead, attention was focused on the huge Cinnamon Toast Crunch mascot that was seated right behind plate taking up several seats. The large cereal mascot was even calling balls and strikes.
Mets announcers had a tough time deciding what the huge mascot was at the first. SNY Mets play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen initially thought that the mascot was Spongebob Squarepants, before his colleagues informed him that it was in fact Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Fans will often wear some crazy outfits or even jerseys from players that you would never expect anybody to own. However, this was pure insanity. I can't say I've ever seen an oversized mascot for cereal taking in a Major League Baseball game behind home plate.
It's certainly not something that you see every day. Perhaps the Marlins can arrange some type of promotion with Cinnamon Toast Crunch in the future because this is the only thing that fans are going to remember from this game.
