On Thursday, Los Angeles Dodgers released their City Connect uniforms, which pay homage to the Latino community in the city. The Dodgers plan to wear their new uniforms on Friday and Saturday against the New York Mets.

The new uniforms are nearly entirely Dodger blue with blue pants, blue jerseys, and blue caps. The team will wear "Los Dodgers" on their chests as a nod to the Latino community.

"Viva Los Dodgers is more than just a cheer heard throughout Dodger Stadium, it's part of our identity, and now proudly worn across the front of our jersey — celebrating our fans and our culture," the team said in a statement. "The Dodgers are part of the fabric of Los Angeles, and these jerseys represent our strength drawn from our passion, pride, and diversity."

This will mark the first time in the team's 138-year history that the Dodgers will be wearing both blue jerseys and pants. In addition, the jerseys will feature a splash on the end of each sleeve that will represent spray paint that is used for street art.

Nike's "City Connect" series was designed to tie into specific themes of each home city. For example, the San Francisco Giants' "City Connect" uniforms highlighted the Golden Gate Bridge while the Boston Red Sox dressed in blue and yellow to honor the Boston Marathon.

Nike has said that the Dodgers and other MLB teams will keep wearing their "City Connect" uniforms for multiple seasons.
