MLB DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, lineups, strategy, advice for Aug. 27, 2023

We're approaching the final month of the 2023 MLB season, and some of the teams who aren't in positions to compete for postseason spots have already started tweaking their rosters to get a glimpse of their futures even before September call-ups. Lenyn Sosa has been one of the White Sox's top prospects for years now but struggled when given MLB opportunities in 2022 and earlier this season. However, he's making the most of another chance to play regularly of late and being a part of the MLB DFS player pool, posting a .962 OPS with three home runs and eight RBI over his last eight games.

Sosa is still flying well under the radar in MLB daily Fantasy, so might he be a low-cost option for your MLB DFS lineups on Sunday? Freeing up salary cap space for superstars like Aaron Judge, Corey Seager, Justin Verlander and Bryce Harper could make the difference between winning big or taking a loss. So before submitting any MLB DFS picks for Sunday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won more than $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book "Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune" as a top MLB DFS player, McClure's proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Saturday, McClure highlighted White Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi as one of his top picks in the MLB DFS player pool on both sites. The result: Benintendi hit a solo home run and drew a walk in a win over the Athletics, returning 16 points on DraftKings and 21.7 points on FanDuel. Anybody who included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2023 MLB season rolling on, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Sunday, August 27. Head to SportsLine now to see them.

McClure's top MLB DFS picks for Sunday

One of McClure's top MLB DFS picks for Sunday is Blue Jays 2B/OF Whit Merrifield ($4,500 on DraftKings and $2,900 on FanDuel). The two-time AL hits leader and three-time American League leader in stolen bases made his third All-Star team in 2023 and has had a nice bounceback season after missing 118 games in 2022.

Merrifield is slashing .289/.332/.410 with 11 home runs, 57 RBI and 23 stolen bases this season and now he has a strong matchup against expected Guardians starter Noah Syndergaard. The former All-Star pitcher has battled arm issues throughout his career and now carries a 6.42 ERA into Sunday's contest against Toronto.

McClure's optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger ($6,300 on DraftKings and $3,700 on FanDuel). The 2019 NL MVP saw his production fall off a table in the three seasons that followed but he appears to have revived his career in Chicago.

Bellinger is slashing .317/.365/.540 with 20 home runs, 70 RBI and 17 stolen bases and has likely earned himself much more money with Chicago interested in an extension. Bellinger has been key to a remarkable run in Chicago that has put the Cubs into wild card position. See who else to pick right here.
