NHL DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel daily fantasy hockey top picks for April 20

The 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs continue on Saturday with a trio of intriguing matchups in what's been a wild postseason thus far. Predators vs. Stars begins the action at 3 p.m. ET with that series tied at 2-2. Blues vs. Jets is at 7 p.m. ET as St. Louis looks to close out the series, while Capitals vs. Hurricanes wraps up the action at 8 p.m. ET in another series that is tied at 2-2. NHL DFS players have some big names such as Alex Ovechkin, Vladimir Tarasenko and Mark Scheifele to build their rosters around, but before locking in any NHL DFS picks in, first be sure to see the NHL DFS optimal lineups and advice from DFS expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He's also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account. This allows him to find the best NHL DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They're a must-see for any NHL DFS player.

On Thursday, McClure recommended Sharks center Tomas Hertl at $6,500 on FanDuel. The result: He scored two goals against the Golden Knights -- returning 35.2 points and over 5x value. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a huge day. Now, he's set his sights on Saturday's NHL DFS slates and locked in his picks.

For Saturday's slate, we can tell you McClure is high on Ovechkin at $8,700 on FanDuel and $7,400 on DraftKings. The veteran wing has had a strong impact on this series with four total points and 13 shots on goal. And he should be highly motivated on Saturday with the series returning to D.C. following a pair of losses in Carolina.

Part of McClure's optimal NHL DFS strategy for Saturday includes targeting Blues center Ryan O'Reilly ($6,300 on FanDuel, $6,500 on DraftKings), who has two goals in the series against Winnipeg thus far.

St. Louis has a chance wrap up this series with a win on Saturday, giving O'Reilly plenty of motivation in this matchup. He has a chance to go off for huge numbers, but he comes at a much more affordable price than other centers such as Scheifele or Tyler Seguin, so confidently lock him in and look for a nice return on value.

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Saturday. He's a huge steal at his price point, so this pick could be the difference between cashing and going home with nothing. You absolutely need to see who it is before setting your lineups.
