NHL DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel daily fantasy hockey top picks for February 20

NHL DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel daily fantasy hockey top picks for February 20

The 2018-19 NHL season continues with a four-game main slate for NHL DFS on Wednesday beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. With totals set at 6.5 in the Blackhawks vs. Red Wings matchup and in the Jets vs. Avalanche matchup, players from those games are likely to be popular picks for Wednesday's NHL DFS lineups due to the high expected scores. Blackhawks wing Patrick Kane continues to put up absurd numbers on a current 18-game point streak and he's the highest-priced skill option on both FanDuel and DraftKings for Wednesday. However, before you make your NHL DFS picks for the night, be sure to check out the optimal lineups from DFS millionaire Mike McClure.

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He's also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account. This allows him to find the best NHL DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They're a must-see for any NHL DFS player.

McClure recommended Penguins wing Zachary Aston-Reese at $3,300 on FanDuel on Tuesday. The result? He scored a goal against the Devils -- returning nearly 17 points and over 5x value.

For Wednesday's slate, McClure is recommending Avalanche wing Gabriel Landeskog at $6,800 on FanDuel and $6,700 on DraftKings.

Landeskog reached the 30-goal mark for the first time in his career last week and he now has 59 points in 59 games to put him on a pace to best his previous career-high of 65 points by a wide margin. He has a great matchup against the Jets, who he has scored three goals against in two games since the start of the new year.

Part of McClure's NHL DFS strategy includes targeting Flames defenseman Mark Giordano ($6,100 on FanDuel and $6,500 on DraftKings), who had a goal and an assist his last time out on Monday night.

At 35, Giordano is enjoying a career year, with a career-high of 57 points in just 57 games. He leads the league with an absurd plus-30 rating (the Flames have scored 30 more goals than they've given up when he's on the ice at even strength) and he's been especially good on the power play with three goals and 17 assists with the man advantage.

On Wednesday, Giordano will be matched up against a middle-of-the-road Islanders penalty kill and that should play to his advantage. The Islanders rank 14th in the NHL on the kill and the Flames have the seventh-most effective power-play unit in the league.

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers tonight. He comes at a lower price than you would expect, so this pick could be the difference between cashing and going home with nothing tonight.
