As the Cleveland Cavaliers continue their rebuilding process, five-time all-star Kevin Love has no interest in negotiating a buyout from the team, his agent told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Should he remain with the Cavaliers, Love's contract will see him make $60 million over the next two seasons.
"There have been no talks with Cleveland on a buyout, nor is there any interest from Kevin in doing a buyout," Jeff Schwartz, Love's agent, told Wojnarowski.
Throughout his tenure in Cleveland, especially since the departures of championship teammates LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, reports have surfaced from time to time that the Cavaliers have been shopping Love on the trade market.
That possibility is believed to be one Love supports, though according to Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers have so far been unable to find a deal they are willing to pursue.
Cleveland's off-season has been filled with other front-court moves, however. Notably, the team re-signed centre Jarrett Allen, drafted Evan Mobley with the third-overall pick and are acquiring Lauri Markkanen from the Chicago Bulls in a three-team sign-and-trade deal.
With no trade for Love in sight, and Cleveland's reconfigured front court likely meaning fewer available minutes, speculation had mounted about a potential buyout -- which could save the Cavaliers money and give Love a chance to sign with a team that has championship aspirations -- before Schwartz's dismissal of the possibility.
Far removed from his all-star campaigns, injuries have hampered Love's performance in recent years. Last season, while playing a career-low 24.9 minutes per night, Love averaged 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds.
